Most people that know me appreciate that I don’t do things by halves; I’m committed to my work, my clients, my friends and social life and I LOVE life, so it may come as a surprise to some that at heart I am a right lazy so and so. Don’t misunderstand me, I am motivated to do all of the above but when it comes to actually moving my butt I really struggle.
In a fitness freak environment such as Phuket it’s hard to be this way, with triathlons, marathons, bikini perfect bodies and a penchant for all that wheatgrass, it’s hard to be lift on the wayside. As a Phuketian it is a rite of passage to get into Phuket Fitness and do the Laguna Phuket Triathlon, even it its just once, I am repeatedly told. Alas, I’d rather watch paint dry for a week than put myself through that terror. So I think you get the message, it takes great effort for me to indulge in the healthier things in life, I’d simply rather sit on the sofa, glass of wine in hand and watch Coronation Street.
Except I want to look and feel good, and this, especially at my age, and no you can’t ask, comes at a price. So 2012 was all about changing my diet and losing a few kilos and 2013 is all about becoming fit and enjoying it. We are now more than half way through the year (yikes) so I am on a 6-month challenge to sculpt myself into an athletic (at least looking) leaner me that just sparkles with energy.
Follow me on my journey to fitness at RPM Health Club – a road to vitality has just begun, and I hope it doesn’t have too many bumps along the way.
